Have to admit I'm really liking the boxes with potting mix. Going to make a couple and buy a couple for next year.

My soil sucked BttB. I dug a lot of it out and put new stuff in before I put the plants in. It was very sandy. So I replaced it with top soil w/ fertilizer and plant feed. Yep. Mine is more clay and filled with rocks. I mean filled. Which is great for aeration I suppose.Lots of worms too which is super good. Also this is my 6th year in this spot and I've added a few bags of garden soil and peat moss every year but this blight problem has reared it's ugly head again. Hopefully I have it whooped now.

I switched the side of the house where I put my tomatoes this year. Like I said before I had these Russian strawberries on the one side and tomatoes on the other. Pulled the strawberries and put a whole garden in. Deer sprayed them. So far? No deer eating them. Last year on other side? FUCK.

Tommy's a strawberry farmer who knew? They were left by the previous owner. Had the same thing at my last house, it was owned by a "gentleman farmer". Grapes, raspberries, strawberries, apples, peaches, horseradish, huge garden plot, that's what got me into gardening. I managed that place fairly well until the marriage went south.

Earthboxes are kicking butt, can't believe how much water these things drink everyday, a good 30 second run of the hose set at half flow.

I decided a good idea tonight would be to run over a water drain metal cap and jack up the blade on my lawnmower making it un-runnable.
I've gone over that thing 100 times and never had an issue. Just hit it right I guess.
We'll see how hard it is to change the blade now. I'm still getting used to having to do shit like this. Lived in apts and condos from college into 2010.

It's wild how much water these Earthboxes use. All sealed up and they still drink a good 45 second run of the hose every day. Attachments:

Lots and lots and lots and lots of water here. So much so that I can't think of better conditions for disease. Have some yellow leaves with black spots (blight) coming back. Liming the shit out of any low PH areas but it's wet and humid. Not good. For the most part things are growing good though. Looking forward to this dry spell coming up so the roots can get some oxygen. Attachments:

I went to get it pulled a couple weeks ago but the dentist said she would have to use epinephrin or I would feel it. I said fuck no so they are knocking me out. Pretty much pain free since the infections has been under control.
