which was the last of these gun nuts that actually legally owned the gun he used? and before you say, that's why we want to get rid of all of them. Honest answer - how long do you think it would take to get half the guns in the US back? And how much blood will be shed in that process? The guy in Denver legally owned his guns.

The problem isn't guns, it's the mentally handicapped.

What's ironic is that a fully automatic rifle is actually less lethal than it's semi-automatic counterpart in most situations.

The problem isn't guns, it's the mentally handicapped. This is a very valid point. Because we don't want to hurt someones feelings we allow ABNORMAL mentally disturbed individuals to walk free. Maybe if you hug them they will be fine. Really??? Are people really that stupid? Well if they are from California ... you bet your ass they are that flipping dumb.

What if someone breaks into my toolbox and decides to go on a hammering rampage? Then what? Hammer control? You don't think there's a difference between trying to take out a theater full of people with a gun and a hammer? Logistically?

So what changes would you be on board with to help bring that objective about? How would you make it harder for those groups to obtain weapons? To reduce crime: A few years ago Virginia participated in an experimental program where committing a crime with a gun was an automatic federal crime that saw a very nice drop in violent crime. I think that should be instituted nationwide. To reduce accidents I think if people have children and purchase a gun, they and the kids should be required to take a safety course. To reduce these types of massacres: I want to see an investigation and it made more difficult to put children on psychiatric meds. I want it to be illegal for teachers to suggest to parents that kids get medicated (know too many people who had the teacher suggest this - not even suggesting the kid see a therapist, but immediately go the medication route). I want to use either the national guard or veterans to used as security personnel in government buildings and if necessary schools. All of those things might be good ideas to implement. None of them help "with keeping guns out of the hands of criminals and the mentally ill," which is what you said you supported.

Honest answer - how long do you think it would take to get half the guns in the US back? And how much blood will be shed in that process? I thought almost all gun owners were good, law abiding citizens? I'm sure we can rely on them to promptly comply with any new laws.

I feel really sorry for all of the people who filled out paperwork for the guns they bought. Why? Really doesn't matter. What does matter is WTF was I thinking taking every gun I owned on a boat? Man that was a bad day. Lost a boat and all my guns.

Is the theater a hammer free zone like the one in Aurora was a gun free zone?
