I think they signed him the day Paterno got fired. One year deal, incentive laden, good contract. With him being signed, and Crowe hopefully coming back, I am actually ok with our outfield. We need a corner infielder with pop. That is why I want Cuddyer, he can play 1st and either corner OF in a jam.

I think the Indians organization dropped the ball again.

Not sure how I missed them signing Sizemore. I figured he was as good as gone.
I think they should just move VMart to 1B for good Sig. He's got the pop. Marson is a better catcher.

You've missed a lot more than the Sizemore signing.

I'm ok with doing that Tommy, but get me a veteran 3rd baseman first.
Oh yeah, they are seriously considering trading Chris Perez, like serious serious.

Not sure I understand this one. Why are they so hell bent on moving a young closer? Who would close? And what are they going to get in return?
I mean if they think he's already peaked and they can get a good return, I'm all ears.

The reason is because of maximizing value. Look at the contracts given out to closers this offseason. The Indians feel that they might be able to get a knock your socks off type of offer for him because of this. Not saying it will happen, but wouldn't be surprised one bit if he is in fact moved.

True. They might as well listen to see what they can get.

I'm hearing the Indians are in the running for Carlos Beltran. This could be a huge signing even though he's getting old. Thoughts?

He would be a great backup to if Grady goes down again, but if Grady doesn't and he plays like he had in the past when healthy, you have a logjam in the outfield. Brantley, Sizemore, Choo, and Beltran. What they need is a corner infielder.

What they need is a bat too and Beltran has a good one of those.

The corner infield market is shot. They still need a bat so they need to get the next best thing.
It's not a bad idea to have 4 good outfielders especially when Choo and Sizemore have trouble staying healthy.

Beltran said he wouldn't mind DH'ing on a part time basis either.

No Beltran, the Indians wouldn't give him the full no trade. With that said, a team to watch next year is the Nationals. They will be a contender. Strong moves, great young arms, if Harper contributes they could be special.

Mark Trumbo is a name to remember. The tribe is trying to put together a package to get him. Young power hitting 1b, who has actually had success in the bigs. A name to watch.

Well this wouldn't be a salary dump. So I'll just read Sig's mind and say he thinks the trade would include Chris Perez for him. I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Teams find new closers all the time. Look at the Cardinals last year. I think it's an overrated position and the most overrated stat in sports (saves).
A guy that bats 5 times a game and is very young is worth much more.

Wow, closers over rated? I disagree 100%. If you are talking Mariano Rivera, whose era is always around 2.00, he can go more than 1 inning and rarely blows a postseason game for like 15 years? Sign me up. Otherwise, not worth the $ most of them get. The Indians need a young bat more than a closer.

You say that now, but when the Indians have 25 blown saves at the end of the year and miss the playoffs by 1 game you'll change your mind.
You've got to figure closers are responsible for around 50 games a year. A good one will win 40 or more of those. You can't tell me one bat in the lineup is solely responsible for 50 games a year.
Don't get my wrong, i think this team def. needs a bat and i'm not apposed to trading C. Perez, i just hope they have a viable second choice. The difference between Perez and a less than average closer could mean 15 - 20 games in the W column this season.
