Pence ... hasn't done squat this year. Oh really Mikey? I think 16HR, 50RBI and a .285 BA is at least greater than or equal to doing squat.

I like Hodges and he put up some good numbers but was never given a fair shot. I think he was viewed as a career minor leaguer.

Yep, not dead yet. Beat the best pitcher in the game tonight.
Question becomes, do they buy or sit still and hope this team can do it.
I probably sit. I don't see anyone that puts us over the edge without mortgaging the farm
That said, rumors are they were hard after Hanley and aren't done looking.

Here's the problem with what they have and what they need. They need a close to upper echelon guy. What they have is average talent in the high levels of the minors, and all their "top" prospects in low A ball. Thus you're going to get an average guy at best. They don't have the prospects to make a big move. In 2 years they will, not now. Which pisses me off more about the Ubaldo trade last year. Could've got so much more in return for those two guys.

At this rate he might be right. Looking through the predictions, none of us were close. Tsaw pointing out the obvious that they needed a bat was right on. I still say if Choo and Santana drove in runs like they did in '10 this team would be so much better. This offense has just been putrid, which was my biggest fear. Please sell Dolan, please.

Look around. Other smaller market teams are in much better shape (not just in the standings but in what their farm looks like).
Dolan is a problem but let's be honest that's just as much a MLB problem, only a few teams can afford the big guns.
The bigger problem IMO is the front office. Between drafting, trades and what FAs Shaponetti do sign? Fire 'em all.

When did Cleveland become a small market? I'm sorry but they are a mid market and should be able to operate year in year out with a payroll in the 80's.

(Great place to work if you're an incompetent GM/President) The drafts of 2000-07 are the most damning evidence that he can't manage a MLB team. They've also squandered the limited FA resources they've allotted ... and have also failed miserably in the international free agent market.

Willingham was such an obvious pre-season addition and he was cheap ... $7 million per year. But apparently Indians didn't want to go to three years. So instead they spent on Sizemore, a few million on Derek Lowe and signed Casey Kotchman. Exhibit A of why it is better to spend on one good player than to sign three replacement-level retreads.

That's what they've been doing their entire tenure. Depth in baseball outside of pitching is overrated. They keep signing two guys to play one position. Michels/Delucci, Perez/Broussard, Duncan/Damon, etc etc. they never learn from their mistakes.

That ones not, unless you consider the fact that he not only keeps underperforming front office guys, but promoted them.

Just so our discussion is on track. There are 30 teams in MLB.
There are now 2 cities with a smaller market size: KC & Milwaukee.
We used to be mid market Sig. Used to be.

But I expect him to demand performance and production out of his front office. He just doesn't get it. I don't think he understands the game, otherwise he would have made these changes.
