I'll say they trade a top 5 prospect and at least another for Carlos Quentin. He's exactly what they need, a RH power bat in the OF.
I think they'll also kick the tires on an arm like Cole Hamels but will realize they don't have the ammo to do it.

I don't think they have the ammo to make a big splash move. They should do it, but their top prospects are all low level minor league talent. Lately it seems like teams want a guy who can be at least a MLB backup next season and the Indians don't have that to offer right now. I hope I'm wrong.

It's going to be a mess in about 3 years, so they have to go now. I think something like: Scott Barnes (top 5-10 in system SP), Cord Phelps & Jason Donald would get it done or Barnes and a guy like Wolters (low end like you mentioned but top 5 SS).

Really? Quentin? He doesn't have a power stroke or a great batting average. Shelly Duncan is going to have a better second half than him.

Classic, look at his HR numbers on the year and assume he has no power. Ignore that he was hurt. Ignore that he plays at a pitcher friendly park. Ignore that his OPS would be the highest on the Indians roster. Duncan doesn't belong in the big leagues.

Ok Duncan was a bad choice but i'm not giving up a prospect for Quentin. If the Indians are going to make this team a playoff team, Quentin isn't going to make us that much better. Also, pointing out the fact that he's been injured, doesn't help your argument.

So who should they get?
Or better yet tell us who they will get.

I don't know and i don't know.
What i do know is Quentin won't carrry this team to the playoffs. It would be a waste to give up a prospect for someone who isn't capable of making a huge difference.
Honestly, i doubt they do anything worth a damn.

They need someone like Hunter Pence. Even though his OPS isn't as high as Quentins' is.

They need a RH bat.
They need an OF.
They need some power.
Quentin is available & is all 3.
Nobody they get is going to "carry" them to the playoffs. They need Cabrera, Kipnis, Choo, Santana, the rotation & pen to all show up to get there.
But adding a RH to split up these lefties & add some pop is necessary. He would be the biggest pop in the lineup if added.
This team's window is gonna close real soon, they might as well go down blazing.

So adding someone that has been injured this year is your "all in" answer?

So adding someone that has been injured this year is your "all in" answer? The only reason you won't trade for him is he had an injury? I'd take Pence as well but I think that's very unrealistic.

Pence isn't unrealistic. Philly can't afford him and his contract is up after 2013. They want to get some prospects for him and now is a good time to do so.
I don't like the trade for Quentin because i'm not impressed with his game. He's not going to hit 12 more homers this year and will end up with a batting average probably under .250 like he has for the majority of his career. I'm sorry, we don't need another Casey Kotchman on this team.

Quentin has hit over .254 once in his 7 year career.

He's not as good as his OPS is saying. He's played 30 games, that number is going to go down after every game he plays because he has played above his ceiling the first half of the season. For playing above his ceiling, his numbers still aren't impressive.

I'd take Pence first, but having said that the two are incredibly similar players. I think Quentin might be a little cheaper. Pence is having the better season and projects to finish with the better average. Both were all-stars last year.

He is going to cost a lot more in a trade and more teams will be after him.

Pence was great after the trade last year, hasn't done squat this year. Could be lack of protection.
Two things the Tribe has a lot of in the minors are LHPs, and SSs. Those are always valuable.
Who was our top 3B prospect the last couple years, kid had power but never made it to the bigs that I recall? He had a goofy name.
