Had to give a urine sample this morning. Nurse told me it looked like beer.
Well, no shit.

"Admiral, David is dead." (No, really. He got the AIDS, died in '89.)

My daughter is playing this game where she shows me a letter and I have to come up with a word that starts with the letter.
So she shows me the letter N and I'm like: "uhh, nincompoop". Well, she decided that "nincompoop" is the word she's going to run around yelling for the rest of the morning, except she can't say it all that well. (Whoops!) Sparkling wiggles, anyone?

What the hell? How can gas be $3.03 on the way to work... and $3.15 on the way home? 12 cents? Really you greedy bastards? Placing oil on the commodity markets - one of Jimmy Carter's better ideas... There's also a great deal of money spent on calculating the psychology of price increases; you'll see prices suddenly jump a quarter than slowly fall back to a dime, inducing you to think that the true price increase isn't so bad after all. The biggest factor in commodity pricing is always the "chicken little effect." A bunch of people get pissed off in Cairo, prices jump 20 cents overnight on the lame excuse that Egypt controls the Suez Canal when the reality is that the Egyptian military controls the canal. Hosni getting Hosnied has very little to do with traffic through the area. What were a bunch of pissed-off towelheads going to do - line the banks and throw rocks at the tankers? They'd even had to bring along their own rocks. But it plays well with the media. But - when a couple of skinflint middle managers at BP caused the largest oil spill in recent history in the Gulf last year, prices actually dropped a cent or two because if the industry and the markets had seized the opportunity to indulge in a little price gouging, they were afraid that Wall Street and the corporate offices of BP America would have been burned to the ground by a pissed off mob that would have made Cairo look like a Tupperware party if they tried passing the buck when their own stupidity put them on the hook for $20+billion. Proof that they may have no pride, but they do have a bit of common sense.

Some guy at the gun range was shooting an FN FAL this past weekend. I was in the lane next to him. Never heard anything so loud in my life. The thing wasn't just loud, it shook my brain. Anyways, now I want one.

Now that you put it that way, it makes more sense. Thanks!

Anyways, now I want one. When you get tired of playing with them cork guns*: * - when you absolutely, positively want to reach out and touch someone a mile away and let them know you really care... I personally put 20 rounds in one side and out the other of an old F-150 pickup truck at 200 yards with one of the single-shot versions of these. Once you've shot one, nothing else quite stacks up...

If the current topic is *impressive shootin' irons*: Never seen one of these angry up close and personal, but I have been on both the USS Missouri and USS North Carolina and got to crawl around in the innards of both, inclusive of the turrets and magazines. I've talked with old salts that did see them go off regularly, and they say it was a pretty religious experience. It'd take several pages of text and hours to describe just how amazing these pieces of machinery are, and that would barely scratch the surface.

Never saw one in action close up but I was lucky enough to call in live fire a time or two when I was with ANGLICO. Impressive shit compared to most of the artillery I was used to calling in.

What the other guys did when Voodoo called in the arty: ANGLICO - cool. Rather small community, that. Friend of mine was a CPO in AIMD at Whidbey NAS. Got me on the Mizzou when she was in Bremerton before she got towed to Pearl.

Anyways, now I want one. We're all very proud of ptero for having shot the Death Star Laser. I'd suggest something a bit more practical, the Remington 7400: I actually own it's predecessor, the 742 in a 30-06. Whether you want to brain Bambi, or air out the engine block of a Crown Vic (though you need a specific round for that), it's the right tool for the job.

What's not practical about being able to shoot clean through a graboid, a block wall, a couple of 55 gallon drums, an engine block and still having enough zip on the slug to nail a Jehovah's Witness across the street about to ring your neighbor's doorbell? ;D :47 to :51

This turned into a gun thread quickly. I was just posting random bullshit. Anyway, I would love to shoot a 50 cal sometime. Sometimes I regret not joining the Marines after college. Oh well, live and learn. At least I have a great family.

I'd rather stab somebody or choke em' it's so much more personable. The first one is always the hardest though. It does get easier.
