LOLiar
Rebate is in the mail!
Jimmy Haslam 1/1/17
"I think we have the right people in place,'' Haslam said in an interview after Sunday's 27-24 overtime loss to the Steelers. "I could not be more pleased with the job that Hue and his staff are doing. You wouldn't think this was a team that was 1-14 that was out there battling. What did we play today? 70-plus minutes of football? So really pleased with Hue and really pleased with our personnel group.''
What makes him so sure he's got the right folks in place?
"It's intuitive,'' he said. "I'll just say I feel very strongly we've got the right group together and I think they're working exceptionally well together.''
1/8/17
#Browns make it official: Gregg Williams will join the team as defensive coordinator. Ray Horton has been relieved of his duties.

To be fair Sashi said something along the lines of the coaching staff was in Hue's hands. I welcome the change. Horton's second half collapses were getting old the first time he was here.

Anyone know if this makes Garrett or Allen more likely than the other?

Anyone know if this makes Garrett or Allen more likely than the other? I don't think Garrett would have fit in Horton's scheme all that well so they are both about even now. I think Allen is the safer pick - makes plays all over vs the run & pass. Garrett is the sexier pick who will be used a sack specialist.

Pep Hamilton chose to be a position coach in college over an assistant HC/offensive coordinator in the NFL. And I can't say he made the wrong move for his career.

If Kirk Cousin makes it to FA (he won't, but whatever, we're just shooting the shit here) do you want him, and how much would you be willing to offer?
Osweiler parlayed a couple decent starts into what amounts to a 2 year, $37M guaranteed deal (21 million in the first year, 16 in the second - the $72M total number is agent smoke and mirrors).
So what can Cousins turn two whole seasons of 70% completions, 4k+ yards, and a better than 2 to 1 td to interception ratio into? If you structure the deal similarly to Osweiler's giving the team an out after two years of big time guaranteed cash what do those first two years look like? $25M and $20? So the whole enchilada is something like 4 years for $90M with $45 guaranteed?

Gonna hurt our 1-15 record? Then again dizz says "yuck" so it must be a bad idea.

waitingfornextyear.com/2017/01/espns-matt-bowen-discusses-gregg-williams/Good interview with one of Greg Williams old players. Points I liked: Williams puts up a big whiteboard with a running tally of everyone's stats and big plays. Not just to put pressure on the players, but to put pressure on himself to make sure the guys who make plays are the guys who get playing time. No draft stock or salary influence, everyone can see who deserves to be out there. Williams will exhaust players with conditioning drills before they start a practice. To see who keeps their technique up when they're tired, and so players can learn how to stay disciplined at the end of a long physical game.

I foresee a lot of nagging ankle, groin and hamstring injuries for Mr Haden.

I foresee a lot of nagging ankle, groin and hamstring injuries for Mr Haden. LOL No doubt. As I've said before, that position is kinda' my pet peeve. When Pettine picked Gilbert I was all in.. in theory. Joe and another top notch corner? My defensive dream. Time to shore up the back end of the defense! But no, crash and burn X 10. Haden falls off and Gilbert's a bust. Greg Williams = accountability + a player that fits in position vs. fit the player to position. I like the addition but it's all moot if Hue keeps dating RGIII. I'm afraid he won't let go of his loved one.

I'm good with this if they don't overpay him. Actually it's the start of the silly season so I'll take every rumor and "report" with a grain of salt.

Sounds like the Browns are close to signing Jamie Collins to a contract.
That's a good player. So that's smart.
Also opens up the door to franchising Pryor. That's smart too because it's a 1 year deal to make sure you want to lock him up for years. Avoid a bad contract.
