Let us not get ahead of ourselves. The fact that Luke Walton is still on this roster (I swear to god I thought he retired) is proof positive that this season is still about getting a high pick in next year's draft.
But holy shit is Kyrie Irving amazing. He's gonna be in he Hall of Fame someday. A joy to watch.
Other thoughts: Andy was superb. He absolutely owned the paint, grabbing every rebound on both ends of the floor. And his passing was nearly as good as his rebounding. Can't trade him for anything less than an unprotected lotto pick.
I watched with the DC announcers, and they were in love with Gee and is defense. Glad we got him back.
This Sloane guy plays like he's trying to put together a highlight tape, not win a game. Hot dogging ball hog.
Jan Vesely was great in "Eastern Promises."
Holy fucking shit is Irving amazing.
Biggest surprise of the night - I thought Dion Waiters played inside his game and did really well, while Zeller looked every bit a rookie player in his first game. I like the Zeller pick a lot - he was my favorite player in last year's tourney - but for a guy who was supposed to be the most NBA ready player in this draft he played with a real lack of situational awareness. But hey, its his first game.

Irving is fantastic. Dont put him in the HOF until he can prove to stay healthy though.
Andy had a hell of a game.
Its like watching a college team. Which isnt bad to be honest.

It's gonna be a good defensive team. Real good.
We still don't have a "Ray Allen In His Prime" shooting threat.
That's all I got.

Kyrie is damn good but this team isn't winning without Andy.
I'm curious to see if Waiters continues to play like he did yesterday. He was a huge reach at 4, lets hope it pays off. I know he outplayed Beal yesterday, so that is a good start.

Cavs pulled off an impressive deal today, trading away a bottom of the bench type guy for Marreesse Speights, Wayne Ellington, a shitty point guard who won't be around long, and a first round pick.
Speights is a young and useful big man. With Andy out he'll get plenty of playing time, so if he wants to prove he can start in the NBA this is his chance.
Ellington is a 2, who can fill in for the always injured Boobie Gibson.
The pick is the crown jewel of the trade. After having 4 first round picks in the last 2 drafts the Cavs can also have 8 (!) first round picks in the next 4 drafts. Obviously they likely won't be drafting that many players, so it looks like they're putting themselves into position for some big deals. Either trades for established stars, or big jumps up the board in these drafts to grab top-tier talent coming out of school.
The trade isn't a big deal in terms of turning us into a winner this season. But Grant took nothing and turned it into something valuable. He's been doing a lot of that, and the Cavs have plenty of assets now because of it. If Grant is as good at spending those picks as he was at obtaining them, the Cavs are gonna be sitting pretty for a long while.

I don't watch much basketball, but this Cavs team seems to be the most talented they have had in awhile. Why is the record so bad?
So wait, we traded a scrub for three players and a first round pick? And the Grizlies don't have a first round pick this year so we have to wait an extra year - why does the NBA allow that team to keep trading away their first round picks?

I don't watch much either (did watch last night) but I'm not sure about that comment. They have Kyrie and not much else. Horrible defensively too.

Byron Scott might have to go.

First off, the loss of Anderson was huge.
The Cavs struggled to be healthy this season, either Anderson was out, or Kyrie, or Waiters. They never really got a chance to mesh.
One thing is clear, Waiters is a better player coming off the bench.
I think the trade yesterday was the first piece of a larger trade that will happen b4 the deadline.

I happen to see the last quarter of that game last night too.
I usually don't watch much basketball but that was fun to watch last night .
Kyrie Irving was throwing balls while falling to the floor and they were going in the hoop.
P.S. FUCK Queen James.

Mikey, the talent we have is very young. Depth is poor, with guys like Luke Walton seeing time. There have been injury issues. And we don't have an NBA small forward.
I hope Dan Gilbert isn't dumb enough to be positioning this team for a LeBron return. You saw what happened last time we put our eggs in that flake's basket.

Can't speak to the NBA's motives, but Memphis did this to get under the cap. I'm not a fan of the last labor agreement, but the new harsh fines for going above the soft cap is working out well for us. We've got an owner who will spend whatever it takes. Most owners in this league aren't like that, which gives us an avenue to bring in extra talent. Should also keep in mind that this deal only delays Memphis's cap problems, it doesn't solve them. They've got a lot of attractive young talent on that roster. I'd love to see Grant do further business with them.

Bringing Lebron back would be like the Browns hiring Michael Vick @ QB. A PR nightmare. IMO If that ever happened I would never entertain watching a game again. Ever.
