This offseason has seen the Cavs add some athletic scoring at the wings, in CJ Miles, a guy who's been around a while without doing a whole hell of a lot, and rookie 4th overall pick Dion Waiters.
Waiters reminds me of a young Baron Davis - in that he's talented, but fat and seems to have an attitude. The Cavs took him fourth overall, but he never cracked Syracuse's starting lineup. Boom or bust pick.
In the draft we also selected big man Tyler Zeller. I'm excited about this pick. He's a high energy guy who really stood out to me in the tournament last year. Lean, but he runs the floor well and has superb height. I think he and Andy can make up a unique and highly effective frontcourt. IF Andy is still in Cleveland past the trade deadline. Supposedly the Cavs are open to moving him, but not for anything less than an unprotected lotto pick - which will be hard to find in the wake of the Mo Williams deal.
Lots of important questions this season. Where will Andy end up? Is Waiters the next DWade or the next DWagner? Can Kyrie Irving stay healthy for 82 games? Can LeBron James die choking on a dick already?
Lots of questions, but I'm only asking you all for one answer - how many wins?
I'll say 28 wins - 54 losses. I'm expecting a replay of last season. Coach Scott will push the guys early to see what they've got, then shut things down after the all-star break and play for ping-pong balls. 2 things tell me the Cavs org doesn't think this is the year to make their push into the playoffs - first, they've made no serious trades or big time free agent signings. They haven't added any serious vets to the roster yet. Second, Dan Gilbert has been quiet. When the Cavs decide to let the ponies run, he'll make a splash on twitter.

39.
I lose interest in the 2nd quarter of the opener.
Kidd-Gilchrist is rookie of year.
Heat win it all again because pro sports are miserable for us.

I'm getting more and more excited about the new Cavs season.
They're the only Cleveland team that has their "Trifecta for Sports Success": owner, coach, and *that* player; in Gilbert, Scott, and Swerving Irving.

Everyone who knows me at all knows I don't predict records. Here is what I think...... I wanted Harrison Barnes..fwd with a perimeter shot who can defend. Instead we get Waiters who has a highly questionable shot & (IMHO) a selfish attitude.....I see him as a ball hog, but I like Byron Scott & he loves this kid, so we'll see. Again, IMHO, Zeller was the STEAL of the draft & may go a long way toward offsetting Waiter's shortcomings. Other keys are0a healthy Kyrie (there aren't enough superlatives), Tristan (improve the f/t shooting), & Andy's energy...I do NOT want to see Andy gone. You can't measure in stats what Andy means to this Team. As Flats stated, we have a hell of a base with Gilbert, Scott, & Irving. The Cavs will be ok! Agreed on Andy and Zeller. Andy is that one player Byron can point to as the example of what kind of effort the young guys need to give.
I think it was the Rockets GM, Morey, who said Zeller was the steal if the draft. Houston would have taken him twice before us, but they were taking players they thought would be a attractive to Orlando in a deal for Howard.

I'm split on Anderson Varejao. I think the team is a few years away from a serious title contender. He'll be like 33 then. I do like the effort he can bring and 33 isn't ancient but would you be better off getting value for him now?
That said I'm not sure you could get equal value in player value and obviously they don't need anymore draft picks.

Andy is not a prolific scorer, his value is a type that really can't be quantified with stats, so keep him here. I really would LOVE to see how he, Thompson, & Zeller would work together at crunch time. Ol' "PLEASE keep Andy!" Dad

Less than three weeks until the regular season. Who wins a game first? Cavs or Browns?

Anyone else feel like LeBron will opt out of his contract after this year and try to come back to the Cavs? I mean, D. Wade's body is already breaking down. We'll hopefully have a top 3 pick, plus Kyrie Irving and some other good young players so I can see it being tempting. He's always been one to jump at the best opportunity.

I'd prefer he stayed with the Heat and got their assess kicked in the playoffs for the remainder of his career.

Awwww somebody got their feelings hurt when Lebron left. I didn't really like the prick when he was here and can't forgive him for how he that to the city on national TV. That said I think all along he had it in his head that he'd come back and have something called, "The Return" like "The Decision" Gilbert has too much pride. I don't think he'd do it.

When he left he said he couldn't win a championship in Cleveland. I believe him.
He's Modell to me. Some things are just unforgivable.

Sounds like Bynum's knee is fucked. Probably a good thing the deals never went through for the Cavs.
