I think he will definately get in. Is he a first ballot guy? I think so, I also think Bonds should be also...even w/o roids he was a first balloter so come on. Jr.? Yep was before he went to Cincy. I think the guy being interviewed blew his cred by only saying that he wouldn't vote for those proven roid users. But many articles have shown that the Tribe was one of the worst roid offenders and to just say Jim was clean is a joke. sports.yahoo.com/video/player/mlb/26287696#mlb/26314625

I just love how he is a sure thing but guys like Bonds & Clemens have no chance. Thome is loved by the media, so they give him a free pass on the roid era. Who says he didn't use? Look at him when he first got into the league and look at him now.
He's still the Indian who left that pisses me off the most. Be like Albert Belle, just admit its for the money and leave. Don't be like Turncoat Thome and say, "you have to tear this jersey off my back" then you run to the money & give us some "my wife is my rock" line.
He's a jackass. He could have been the most beloved Cleveland Indian ever but he turned out to be like every other pro athlete. Nice guy my ass. Rot in hell Thome.

I don't know how he does get in, but it's a clusterfuck of an era.
All time rankings aside, he was never the top guy in his era, either at his position or just in terms of going yard.
Now an argument can be made that the guys in front of him were proven users, and like Tommy said - all the signs point to him juicing, but he's the nice guy so no one wants to say he did.
If he gets in, it's simply because the media likes him. But he shouldn't. Well let me edit that.
I believe the roid users should get in. I don't have a problem with it, no asterisk necessary. Everyone was using so it was a level playing field. Like holding Ruth accountable cause they didn't have bullpens back then...

I agree, let them all in. People can have their own opinions on them. I'll tell my kids the era ruined the numbers that my generation grew up memorizing.
But it's bullshit to just let some in. If anything put that they played during the steroid era on their plaque in small print. Big deal.

Yeah but come on a gambler in the hall. Pfft, can't have those kinds of players in the Hall. He might have fixed games.

Before anyone gets there, can I just point out that Field of Dreams has our generation totally disillusioned on Shoeless Joe?
Yes overall he played very well, but we all know that stats can be deceiving and manipulated. If you go and look at how he played in the games they won vs the games they lost it is clear as day - ie his hits and RBIs all came in the games they played to win. Also, while he did not record a statistical error, he did make some mental mistakes that were unlike him - such as getting picked off and throwing behind the runner allowing him to advance.

He also was illiterate. Not sure what that has to do with it but it's an interesting tidbit.
You also think that Lee Harvey killed JFK too right?

I don't know if I've ever seen that opinion on that. I find it fascinating, have read many a book on the subject.
Should we talk about Tin Cup next or Dances with Wolves?

Don't worry, I'm sure there is plenty that I find fascinating that you wouldn't. I do like conspiracy theories in general, just love reading the fucked up theories that people come up with. No stars visible from the moon landing. The exposed structure of the World Trade Center clearly shows signs of being cut and that fire can't melt steel... Good stuff.

Only EIGHT guys in ALL of baseball have over 600 HR's. Only 8. Few of them 'juiced' to do it. YES, he gets in the HOF.

Believe that to be different. They juiced. People know it. Did Thome? If so, never came out. Think he might be too much of a doofus, country boy to do steroids.
