KC caught lightning in a bottle maybe we can too. Not as long as Dolan & Shapiro are in town. Ol' "I'll wear my Tribe stuff again when those 2 are GONE!" Dad Yet you will wear your Browns gear with pride, a team that has gone to one wildcard game since 1999. I will never understand that take.

Bad football > good baseball. What's hard about that?

Bad football > good baseball. What's hard about that? Hating baseball is easy to understand. Saying you are boycotting an occasional playoff team because of an owner while supporting this abortion from the owner on down is what I don't understand.

Being a Browns fan from birth runs in the blood. Even a blood transfusion can't remove it. Tribe or baseball not so much.

He has made it clear the reason he doesn't like them is an owner. For a team that is actually way more successful than the Browns. And many have taken the same stance. And it makes zero sense.

Dad Yet you will wear your Browns gear with pride, a team that has gone to one wildcard game since 1999. I will never understand that take. Come on Tommy, don't even TRY to compare the effort on the part of owners & front offices. Dolan spends his money on 3 outfielders who are banjo hitters, strike out 100 times each & help NO other Tribe hitters around them in the lineup. Oh, I forgot his retaining his Cy Young winners & solid players. The Browns, on the other hand, have Joe Thomas & Joe Haden locked up long term, signed solid players in FA & never bit the hand that fed them by saying (after cutting payroll)..."When the Fans spend money, I'LL spend money". Well, that cheap sonofabitch can eat shit! He bought a Team in a record number of consecutive sellouts with Fans wearing Tribe gear all over NE Ohio, pulled the rug out from under us (AND the Team) & blames it on the FANS? Fuck Dolan & you too if you're stupid enough to keep lining his pockets. He's laughing right in your face all the way to the bank. Ol' "I'm not buying the shit Dolan's selling, but some of you are." Dad

I don't think anyone "hates" baseball they just don't have any faith that the owner will go the extra mile to win it all. That's why people never showed up. They already knew the probable outcome.
Haslam will splurge for anything to get better, he's just been "Rumblin', Bumblin' and Stumblin". Besides, this is a football town first.

I guess some people will just never face the fact that the perfect storm of the Jacobs Indians from 94-99 was just that, a perfect storm that will never come back.
That was a mirage. That was not how the city truly feels about baseball. It was the hip thing to do for everyone. New ballpark. No Browns. Cavs sucked.
Until you get over that you will continue to not understand the economics of baseball.
The Indians could not have kept Sabathia or Lee. If you don't understand that then there is no helping you understand anything else.
They have made some horrible moves (Swisher - a PR move) but all in all they have done a decent job contending every few years. That's all Cleveland can ask for.

Because they like football enough to overcome shitty ownership, but don't enjoy baseball enough to overlook similar deficiencies. Let me give you an example of what I'm talking about: Gets dumped because her cooking sucks. Brings you a bowl of hotdog water and you call it the best soup you've ever had.

Yeah, I get it. What I'm saying is I think there are more people in Cleveland like dizz who don't even like baseball and just blame the Dolans for that rather than just admitting they don't like baseball.
And their imagination tells them that what baseball is supposed to look like in Cleveland is that hot piece of ass in lingerie (the mid 90s) while the real look of Cleveland baseball is that below average looking, fat faced, sweatshirt wearing girl who occasionally gives you a nice blowjob.

That is where you're wrong and we've discussed it many times. The dizz loves baseball but the sport is dull to watch on tv and I hate how the league is structured. Could it survive if 4 teams didn't make enough money to pay for the entire league? Probably not but the fact that there is no cap is retarded to me, baseball will never be huge in most cities because teams can't afford the marque players. Look at what Lebron did for Cleveland. 1 guy turns a miserable franchise into a powerhouse sell out machine. And yes, before you start with putting me down because you don't think i know baseball, basketball and football are different, i do.

Of the 10 most expensive free agents last year, 8 different teams signed the players: Mariners, Yankees, Rangers, Giants, White Sox, Mets, Cardinals & Brewers Of the 10 most expensive free agents this year, 9 different teams signed the players: Nationals, Cubs, Red Sox, Blue Jays, Diamondbacks, Tigers, Mariners, Twins, Yankees And yes money helps winning but it doesn't equal winning. Look at last year's World Series, the Royals vs. the Giants while the Yankees didn't even make the playoffs & the Red Sox finshed in last place. Hell the Cardinals are probably baseball's most consistent team & their payroll is never high. Their fans also pack their stadium and are known as perhaps baseball's best.

Baseball's biggest problem is the game can't keep up with the lack of attention span people have anymore. And I don't know that they'll ever be able to fix that. They can tell batters to get in the box or tell pitchers to take less time dicking around on the mound but its going to be hard to get the attention of kids these days who want everything now and fast.
I do think many teams regional TV ratings are pretty good but that's just because their main audience is a bunch of 50 & 60 year old white males. They have to figure out how to become popular with younger people again - more day games, double headers, move the start times up of playoff games. But again it might be too late.

Make baseball interesting again. Switch to aluminum bats and move the fences back which will make more room in the field for hits, and lower the damn pitchers mound.
