Should the Indians pick up Sizemore's option, & hope he gets healthy and can contribute in 2012?
Or should they let him leave and spend that $9 million elsewhere.
They have until 3 days after the World Series ends to decide.

Time to move on. His injuries are killing him. I agree. He might be able to help a team but I think his best days are gone. I could see him ending up in Boston or New York. The obvious answer is spend that money elsewhere but the way the Indians manage money they'll go get 3 old scrub vets and pay them $3 million each. Spend all that and then some on one guy or don't spend it all. I'd rather young kids play than the Jason Michaels of the world.

You can't keep him for that much money. Plus at this point, his bat isn't the type of bat the team needs. I would like to see them sign Kubel or Cuddyer, a bat with a little pop that can play a corner outfield.

Move on. Even when he's healthy he's a slightly better than average MLB outfielder.

Move on. Even when he's healthy he's a slightly better than average MLB outfielder. See I agree with this. For a guy to be a career .269 hitter w/ a .357 OBP he needs to be more of a HR hitter than he ever was. He struck out way too much for my liking. I think Sig disagrees with most of that.

I'm starting to see the light. When he was healthy, I think he was a very good outfielder. He is no longer healthy, nor will he be anytime soon. You are right about not having great enough power numbers. I always thought he would be a .280 30 homer guy. I don't see that anymore.
With that said, I put Brantley in CF, and keep Choo in right. Who is our left fielder. I have long complained about spending 3-4 million on platoon guys. Screw that. Throw 6-9 at one guy, and you get an everyday player. Let the young guys be your 4th outfielder, utility infielder until they develop. That's how they did it in the 90's.

My vote would be that's where most of this $9 million goes or a good portion of it.
The rest of the regular lineup is set, except what do you do with 1B? Do you move Carlos there full time? While his #s would look better behind the plate I think that might be the best move. He'd play more, and likely be able to stay healthier. I think he can be a regular big power guy. Just make Marson the regular catcher. Yes he blows with the bat but he is a good catcher defensively and calls a good game.
Is Hafner the DH again?
The staff is pretty set as well and hopefully the 'pen can go back to what it was at the beginning of the season.
I don't see too many big moves needed. Get healthy and they should be able to contend.

They need a stick that can hit for consistent power. I've always viewed Santana as a guy that will hit for decent average, but no more than 20-25 homeruns.

Well he hit 27 in just his 2nd year. I don't think 35+ is that far of a reach.

It's official, option declined. They will be in the bidding to sign him though. Guesses where he lands?

I'll go with a wild card. The Tampa Bay Rays sign him and have him fill the void left when Crawford left. Very very similar players.
