Gilbert just scrapped the Q renovation project. Lol. Lets watch dizz defend Dan on this one. I'm going to allow you to revisit this comment after you learn a thing or 2 about what really happened. This might be one of your dumbest comments but we have a lot to compare it to. I was going to explain what was going on but i don't feel like it.

Cavs are relocating in 10 years because of Gilbert. Thanks Dan. Oh and that All Star Game they were trying to get? Gone. No shit. Dan isn't to blame here though. Some political side group in Cleveland is trying to get their hands on some of the money that is involved in the upgrades. Because they were cut out of the deal, they forced the renovation to go to a ballot which will delay everything and ultimately take them out of the running for the All-Star game because of the timeline. You can say Dan Dan Dan all you want but it's not his fault. This fucks everything up too, in the long run. $1.4 billion now (half paid by Dan) would have created an extension on the lease. Now, with no renovations, when the lease is up in 2027 the Cavs are going to want a completely new area costing roughly $800 billion and who's going to pay for that? Right, the tax payers, which i don't think will ever happen. So whomever is fucking this deal up is ultimately going to be responsible for the Cavs relocating.

The renovations would have cost $140 million dizz. Gilbert should have just paid it. Not asking for more damn tax money.
Did you forget about his promise like 8 years ago to build a huge $600 millioin casino on the river if he had a monopoly on it in the city? How's that project working out?

Most owners wouldn't agree to pay any money out of their pocket for stadium renovations, especially in a mid to low market like we are in and what are we talking about here? Casinos or the Cavs?

You know who would pay for them? The Dolans. Casinos or Cavs? It's the same guy.

Yep, that beautiful park you were at a couple weeks back? The recent renovations all out of the Dolans pockets. No tax money.

"The NBA recently warned Cleveland that if work on the upgrades did not start by Sept. 15, the city's bid for the All-Star Game in either 2020 or 2021 would not be considered would not be considered"

County Executive Armond Budish: "This is a significant loss for the community. It jeopardizes the future of two key economic generators: The Q and the Cavs."
The deal would have guaranteed that the Cavs would stay in Cleveland through 2034 and it would have created and retained many hundreds of jobs for people living in our neighborhoods.
And the deal did not raise anyone's taxes.
Contrary to misinformation put out by the opposition, the death of this deal actually means there will be less money, not more, available for social and community services for those most in need. By killing this deal, the opponents have harmed the future for our neighborhood residents."

Mayor Frank Jackson: "The Q Transformation Deal was an economic development project that would have resulted in more revenue for the City of Cleveland. It would have created construction and permanent jobs, modernized the facilities and guaranteed the Cavs would remain in our city until at least 2034. The deal was an investment in Cleveland's future and the future of our neighborhoods. It was good for Cleveland and its people. This is a tremendous loss."

What happened?
The battle against Cleveland's participation was led by Greater Cleveland Congregations, an advocacy group made up of urban and suburban religious institutions, that argued that Cleveland's struggling neighborhoods would not benefit from the deal.
The group led a petition drive in part to get a community benefits agreement under which the Cavaliers would contribute toward a fund to help Clevelanders. Members envisioned that fund being under the control of a board staffed with a mix of public officials and private citizens -- but not the GCC.

I will add, I believe The Q was the 6th largest venue in the country when it comes to earning tax revenue for the city. That is all about to end because The Q is about to become a second rate venue because of some retarded religous group in Cleveland that wants their grubby little hands on some of this money. Losing the bid for the All Star game because of the Supreme court vote to extend the date on this killed the deal, NOT Dan Gilbert.

I bet he starts drinking again soon, does something stupid and ends up back in the slammer.
Maybe its just me but people who hide behind stuff like he's doing are phony and will eventually expose themselves.

What's his cult? I saw him post something on Facebook about that Joel Osteen turd. That guy's a shitty excuse for a Christian, but I wouldn't call his church a cult exactly. Is there something else?
