Fuck the Super Bowl - let's talk about a contest that actually matters. Results are in for the 2015 edition of OVER/UNDER. This lets you know your value as a man for the next 12 months.
As a group we performed much better this season than last. Our average weekly score jumped from 2.3 PPW (points per week) in 2014 to 2.7 PPW this year. Which means that we went from doing worse than pure chance (2.5), to doing better. Which means that we know more about football than a flipped coin does.
Now for the individual results. We had 7 posters take part in the game at some point in the season. Participation was more steady this year, varying from 10 games to all 16. Results are tabulated the same as last year: players who tied for a win are each given full credit for the victory, PPW averages are rounded to the nearest tenth of a point. The 2015 season stats of our 7 players, in ascending order:
7: PHENOM. After winning the whole damn thing last year he comes in dead last. In the eleven weeks he played he had 0 wins and 2.1 PPW. He also scored the one and only perfect "0" of the season. Oh how the mighty have fallen.
6: JAVVY. Actually recovered nicely after an early stretch of scoring just 1 point four weeks in a row. But in his ten weeks he got no wins, and scored 2.4 PPW.
5: FLATS. Like Pheonom, I took a tumble this year. I did manage to get 5 wins out of the sixteen weeks I played, but my PPW was a below average 2.6. Not the year I was hoping for.
4: DIZZ. A workman-like season, much like last year. Dizz played fourteen weeks, won 5 times, had one perfect 5, and scored 2.7 PPW. A good, solid, middle of the pack year, just like last season. Consistency, thy name is Dizz.
3: BttB. 5 wins out of fifteen weeks, had one perfect 5, and scored 2.9 PPW. It would have been enough to challenge for first place in 2014, but it only earns the bronze medal in 2015.
2: VOODOO. Had a magnificent performance this year, winning 50% of the time he played (8 out of sixteen weeks). With a PPW of 2.9 Voodoo is our Most Improved Player from last season (1.7 PPW). Congrats to Voodoo for also being the only played to score a perfect 5 twice this season!
1: TOMMY. A total powerhouse of an OVER/UNDER player. Tommy had 9 wins in sixteen weeks, the only player to win most of the time he played. His 3.1 PPW is a new record for the game. He's the only player to ever crack the 3 PPW mark for a season. After a dominating year we are all left wondering, is this a man in his prime or is this a man just at the beginning of what he can achieve?
One final note - this thing really came right down to the wire. Heading into the final week Tommy and Voodoo were perfectly TIED at 44 total points over 15 weeks. They each even had exactly 8 wins apiece. It took Tommy's final game heroics, a perfect score and a 5-3 win over Voodoo, to break the deadlock and end the season with 49 total points to Voodoo's 47. Week 17 of the 2015 season was Tommy as Jordan hitting The Shot over Voodoo as Ehlo. Thanks to all who participated for a fun year.
