Is there a reason this is an announcement?

Yeah I was being sarcastic. Seems every year a boatload get inducted & half the time I have to ask who? I hear ya, but it spurs me to check out the people being inducted and more times than not I find something I like. I really try to keep up with times musically, my parents were pretty cool in that regard. When I hear the kid coming home from school having learned a new Beethoven tune, and then pulling up Elvis on YouTube I have to concede to the hip hop rap or whatever it is that Will Smith's kids are doing. Times evolve, and it's better to be a part of it IMO.

Don't try to download this on from a phone. It's 22 minutes long.
But it's a nice piece of rock and roll history. Deep Purple from back in '73. Right after the Machine Head album. I always liked Ritchie Blackmore's guitar work and the Marshall stacks are fun to drool at.
Smoke On The Water was the first rock song I taught myself on guitar. I just tuned all the strings to an open E and barred the whole neck at one fret in 3 positions. 3 chords man, and you're a rock star! LOL
Check out the way people in the audience are dressed. It's "far out" man.

Their whole concert is only 22 minutes long? I'd have been pissed.

I wonder why? Because I played it 500,000 times?

I always assumed they got their name after one of the members jacked off too long.

Have you seen what he's doing lately? I just saw it tonight. All I could think about when I saw the videos was that MTV video years ago with all the leprechauns running around. (Men Without Hats?) www.blackmoresnight.com/

One of my favorite concerts was Rainbow and The Pat Travers band. They closed with a duet of Smoke on the Water. In their prime Blackmore and Travers were amazing rockers.

The Goo Goo Dolls have a new album....probably not may fans here but I've always liked them. This album was big in the late 90s.

I caught "The Last Waltz" on one of the movie channels the other day. Great documentary about the last concert by The Band. Directed by Martin Scorsese. Tons of guest appearances. Check it out if you haven't already.

the concert saw The Band joined by more than a dozen special guests, including Paul Butterfield, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, Ronnie Hawkins, Dr. John, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Ringo Starr, Muddy Waters, Ronnie Wood, Bobby Charles, Neil Young, Neil Diamond and The Staple Singers. The musical director for the concert was The Band's original record producer, John Simon.
