So the Cavs, Magic and Lakers are involved in a 3 team talk. This time the target the Cavs have been looking at all along is involved, Bynum.
Part of the reason the Nets trade, actually the reason, it fell apart was Humphries not willing to only sign a one year guarantee. The Cavs want Bynum, and the interest is believed to be mutual. They are one of 3 teams he said he would sign an extension with if traded there. The Cavs have known this and planned all along to make a major push next offseason.
Well that time might be now. Orlando is less concerned with getting talent back and more concerned with draft picks and having ton of cap space. In this deal Howard goes to La, Bynum goes to Cleveland, and Orlando gets Verajo, possibly Thompson, and a bunch of picks. Cleveland and La would probably each take on a bad contract or two of Orlando's. So Duhon, Richardson, Hedu, end up in Cleveland and LA.
This could be good, but would hate to lose Thompson.

The only way this happens is if Bynum agrees to a long term contract.
My one concern is, how are we gonna add that third piece of the puzzle? It won't be via draft if we are trading away picks.
Im not saying i don't want this deal to go down but it seems to me that it would be better if it happened next year. I guess if we have the opportunity now, we need to jump on it.

They think Waiters could be the third piece. Gee is a solid role player. The thing is, they have 6 firsts in the next 3 drafts. They can still add guys.

He will never be nothing more than a role player. That can't stop the trade.
Agreed. Why not though, if he doesn't want to stay in LA then he must not care about big cities. Wants a PG?

The end of the line is near in LA, has to see that. What's interesting is the two teams on his list, Dallas and Cleveland, have two of the more visible owners in the league, if not the two most visible. He also grew up in New Jersey when Byron was coaching them to back to back Finals appearances.

I'm in, assuming we don't give up more than 3 of our first rounders in the next few years. We would still need a SF, and we would have to find someone at PF if we gave up Andy and TT.

I really hope this goes down. The Cavs would be a title contender. Book it.
