I disagree Paul, there are two ways to win a title in the NBA, history has proven it. Either have a out of this world player, ala MJ, Kobe, Bird, or have a very good PG and very good big, ala Spurs, Houston, Detroit, Dallas, etc.
With that said, the Cavs need a good big.

Also, Diz if Jordan was never born, how many rings would Stockton and Payton have between them? Not to mention Thomas would have 1 or 2 more.

Well if Stockton was never born either, would Utah still have a team?

Please God tell me you are joking. AV is a great role guy, a Dennis Rodman, Horace Grant type guy. He is not someone to build around.

I agree you either need a franchise PG (or point-forward) or an incredible Kobe-Jordan like talent. In the end you need someone who can create his own shot and facilitate for others and since a PG has the ball in his hands every possessions it's the most likely position to find that. As for needs, Cavs could use a better post-presence .... but I think Tristan will become a better offensive player. I think the No. 1 need is finding a long, athletic wing who can score it.

He is however a piece that i think a team needs on their roster.

Yes I was joking about AV but he is someone they can't trade if they plan on contending in the next 3 years. As far as position it's easy to point to one position for championships because Kobe and Mike dominating the sport but if you don't get the dominant scorer like those 2 having a guy like Hakeem, Shaq, or Duncan is the next fastest way to win it all. Then probably 3rd is an elite PG.

Greg Oden is a FA next year, he should be nice and fresh from his vacation.

(Though Ill take the next Shaq or Duncan the problem is those those are once in a decade type prospects) As for AV, can't see them trading him. He's cont a great contract 3y 9mil per and he'll be productive throughout. Cavs should be back in playoffs next year if not this year. (Thought I think they'd be wise to dump Jamison and Sessions and try to get back in the lottery)

I thought they were gonna trade Sessions before the season to tell you the truth but I don't think we'll see Jamison or Sessions on this team at the end of the year.

I agree that the Cavs could use a dominant "big", but they are becoming an interior presence. To me, the greater need is a prolific scorer at small forward...one who can fill it up from outside. Mike

If you had any balls you would bet the moneyline on the Cavs vs. the Heat 2night like I just did.

Cavs just beat the Celtics in Boston and are clinging to the 8 seed.
I'm almost hoping they don't trade away the team if there's a chance they could play Miami in the playoffs. Talk about must see TV.

Tommy if they are gonna go for the 8th seed I hope they make a trade to bring in a huge pay and talent to knock out the Heat...who may not get more than the 3rd seed though.

What would we trade for Kaman? NO will want promising young players or picks - we can't give the first, won't give the second. We can give them an expiring contract in Jamison, and I would be happy to make that deal, but I've gotta assume somebody out there will come up with a better offer than that.

Kaman is 30 too, aren't the Cavs trying to go younger than that?

Kaman though isn't a beaten down 30, would be a good future trade chip as long as don't have to give much up.

Kaman's contract expires this year. He is a rental player. I just don't see the pieces we have being attractive in trading for him. They will still try to trade Jamison and Sessions for youth or future picks.
