Never lived up to expectations, whether it be due to his injuries or the hole in his bat causing all those strikeouts.
He's going to a specialist next week to have the knee he had microfracture surgery on looked at.
The Indians hold a $9 million club option on him for 2012.
He gone.

I know they won't pick up the option, but I'm not sure he is gone. I could see a one year deal around 4-5 million for next year. That is if they agree to it before he hits the open market. If he does, someone will overpay for him. The knee injuries really derailed his career.

I don't know Sig, I think its time to just part ways with him & once they decline that option that's likely the route they take.
Not only that but he might be out most of next year again if he needs more surgery.
I guess. But he never really was as good as advertised even when healthy. He was an exciting player but never put it all together.

Tommy, prior to the knee injury, he was a .290, 25 HR, 30 SB, 40 2b, guy who played Gold Glove defense. And those numbers were batting leadoff. I would say he was pretty damn good. Not to mention his OBP was always in the high .3's. He was good.

He only hit .290 once in his career & struck out more than 130 times 4 times. He didn't walk enough. Had a .370 OBP only 3 times.
I'm not saying he wasn't a good player but he never reached his full potential. Part of that could have been him batting leadoff all those years too. The most RBIs he ever had was 90. I always thought he belonged in the 3 hole.

I agree he belonged in the 3 hole. Also, don't forget that those years we are talking about, the Indians didn't have a #2 hitter. Omar was gone, Asdrubal wasn't Asdrubal. I think Belliard and Crisp hit in the 2 hole during his best years. He should have been in the 3, but they had nobody else to hit leadoff. Except for maybe 05 when they had Crisp
