All the talk about Astrubal coming over for Perez got me thinking about how far back some of these trades go.
Like from the Bartolo Colon trade we now have Grady Sizemore, Carlos Carrasco, Lou Marson, Chris Perez and Jason Donald.
But the longest running trade that i've found is for Corey Kluber, who is getting hit pretty hard in Columbus right now. But you can track him all the way back to Buddy Black in '88 who went on to get Willie Blair who became Kenny Lofton who became David Justice who became Jake Westbrook who is now Corey Kluber.
Just another reason for me to root for Kluber.

There used to be a website that would do it for you. But lost the link and can't find it. Curious what the longest running trade in the majors would be.

How sick is it that a guy drafted in the 15th round in 1977 with less than 1,000 AB's gave us Pat Tabler, Bud Black, Kenny Lofton, David Justice, Jake Westbrook, Milton Bradley, Guit and now Joe Smith. That is frickin crazy.

Shap was great at getting other teams' young talent, but the team really didn't draft well with him at the helm.

Choo tracks all the way back to Russ Branyan (first time we traded him to the Reds for Broussard). Carrera tracks back to Branyan the second time. Which is pretty awesome that 2/9ths of our starters (occasionally) track back to that worthless bum. While we're on the subject of Branyan, this is my favorite story ever, mostly because I know the guy's brother. www.loweringthebar.net/2006/10/federal_appeals.html

Funny thing is that Branyon is out there and we could use a power bat. Think we could get him again and turn him around for another piece of the puzzle?

Here's one:
Joe Wallis traded for Gary Alexander traded for Burt Blyleven (had several injury plagued seasons) traded Jay Bell traded for Felix Fermin traded for the great Omar Vizquel.
Not too shabby.

That's a good find Sid, those PTBNL screw with the tracking of these trades.
