Why not, it starts in about a week.
I'll say: 72-90
Their lineup might not be half bad if they stay healthy, and the back end of their bullpen might be decent, but the starting pitching and middle relief is gonna be a mess.
They kind of remind me of the late 80s Indians right now.

At least they aren't going winless. Nice job by Masterson yesterday.

This team actually reminds me of the team a few years ago right before they lost in the ALCS and broke down the team.

That team was the best team in baseball. I think you are getting a little ahead of yourself. I'll take the great start to the season though.

That was not the best team in baseball. They had serious deficiencies in their offense. Lets not mistake them for the late 90's Tribe.
Good pitching, both the pen and starting with timely hitting. The difference was a dominant Hafner..which actually isn't the difference right now since he looks like that guy. I don't expect him to carry on but who knows maybe he can put one more year together.
Actually i'd say this team has better defense than that team and a more balanced attack and hungrier. Without the crazy dominating pitching of CC.

I didn't mean record-wise although they were tied with Boston. But that year Boston, the Yankees and even the Angels were the better team most of the year. The Tribe went on a tear at the end to take the best record.
But yes I do think this team could be as good as that one, if the young guys hold it together and we avoid injuries.

I'm excited to see what happens when Grady get's back in the lineup. I'm making a trip up this summer and the wife and I plan on checking out a daygame. I think they'll be in contention.

My bad thinking that you usually use records to back up how good a team was.
As for this team, I hope you are right SP, but saying they are as good as a team that won 96 games is a little crazy at this point.
Don't forget you were one of the ones claiming the Cavs would be better than the Bulls early in the year.
Keep pitching though and this might be a fun summer.

Tommy, you act like record has some sort of correlation to how good a team is. It doesn't. Get over yourself. The 2010 Browns were the obviously the best team in football, but what was their record?
Case..... CLOSED!

I'm still waiting for a "you were right dizzle" The Bulls look like the team to beat, Derrick Rose will be MVP.

Here's hoping this team is a buyer at the deadline. I would love to see them bring in a vet presence to help out.
I am a little miffed that the team (or at least their beat writers) are all saying that when Grady gets back he is going back to center. I think they should keep Brantley there and move Grady to left and let him hit third.

Don't forget you were one of the ones claiming the Cavs would be better than the Bulls early in the year. Keep pitching though and this might be a fun summer. It's not like I said they sucked. I just said they weren't the best team in baseball. Over 162 games a 2 game difference in record is as close as it gets. To prove my point I thought the '97 team that went to the WS was the best team in baseball but their record was 10 games behind the team with the best record. But they still were the best team in baseball, just had some bad streaks. As far as the Cavs and Bulls no one expected the Bulls to be that good and no one expected the Cavs to be this bad. I was wrong dizzle was right. mikey I believe when Sizemore gets back Brantley will stay in the line up and Grady will be moved to the three spot. If Grady is healthy he's far and away a better CF than Brantley. If he's lost alot of speed due to surgury then I agree Brantley needs to be in center and I bet Acta would do it if that is the case.

Could Matt Laporta suck any worse?
He can hit a Wakefield non-knuckling knuckleball a mile, but anything thrown overhand and it's a problem.
Tribe goes nowhere with his bat and glove in the lineup.

I like LaPorta but he's looking more and more like Andy Marte everyday. At least we only lost Crisp to get Marte. Brantley is looking like he's going to have to carry that trade.

Laporta looks lost at the plate. Never learned proper discipline, which makes him tentative. Get two strikes on him, and you've got an easy out.
He needs to try to become a Rob Deer - Dave Kingman type. Screw striking out, just go up and try to hammer the ball. That bit of mental freedom may unleash the potential in him. If you're going to hit .210 anyway, the 1 hit you get every 5 ABs may as well leave the yard, instead of trickle through the infield
Take away the homer off the Wakefield 50 mph meatball and he's got 7 bases on 6 hits in 25 ABs. Not good, and not an aberration.
